Over the years, I have worked out 5 Steps to Setting and Accomplishing your Goals. These five steps are going to help you set the right type of goals and help you to accomplish them.
The very first step is that you need to set no more than three big goals that you want to accomplish this year. Three is just the right number to truly focus and make sure you are working towards them. When you choose these goals, you need to make sure that they are SMART-
T: Time bound
Step two is that you need to come up with a strategy to tackle the goals you have written down. How are you going to increase sales? What are you going to do to get more customers? Whatever it may be, you need to have a specific strategy in place.
Step three, you need to break your big goals down by quarter. Instead of focusing on the entire year, break the big goal up into four pieces so that it doesn’t seem as overwhelming or crazy. This will also help make sure that you are on track to succeed throughout the year!
Step four is to remind yourself of your quarterly goals daily! Tell yourself everyday what those goals are and think about where you are at within the quarter.
Step five, choose three things that you want to get done everyday (before anything else) and get to it! These should be tied in to your quarterly goals but they don’t have to be huge tasks. They could be something as simple as following up with a potential client.
Bonus step! Write down how your life and business is going to look in one year when you accomplish these goals. Then hang this list of things somewhere that you can see it everyday! This will not only keep you focused but it will help push you through the difficult times.
