Whether you are just first starting out or maybe you have been in business for a little while (but you aren’t getting the traction that you had hoped for), using these 4 Basic Elements of Digital Marketing it will help you get on the right track!
The 4 basic elements of digital marketing that every small business should have:
1. Branding:
This is super important because this is your business name, your logo, tagline, brand personality, etc. It shows your customers how you are going to show up for them. Often times, brands evolve and grow with the business in order to meet the needs of the clients and customers. At the very least, you should have a brand name, a target audience, and how your brand personality is going to connect with your target audience.
A great example of spot-on branding: Texturious Designs – when I look at this website, I immediately know that I can get budget interior design.
2. Website:
If you are just getting started, you probably don’t have a HUGE budget to create a website. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great website. You want to make it simple and easy for users to find what they are looking for. You also want to make sure that your website has fast load times, or you might be losing people before they even see your site! A great way to guide people through your site (in the direction that you want) is to have a “Start Here” page.
You will also want to make sure that your website is mobile optimized. This means that if someone is on their phone or tablet, they are still going to get a great browsing experience.
3. Content:
Content covers a lot of different things. Typically people think of blogs when they think about content. However, content can be anything that educates your customers about your business. Potential customers are going to visit your website to see if your content can relate to them and what they need. When you are using content that is high-value, you will be using “pull-marketing” which means that it is non-intrusive and it gets your customers to come to you.
Another form of content marketing is email marketing! This is a cost effective way to stay top of mind with your potential or current customers.
Of course, another form of content marketing is Social Media. This is one form of digital media that people focus on first, and while it is very important, you need to make sure that it is not your ONLY focus. Potential customers are going to be visiting your social media sites to try to find about more about you and your business.
Many people have used social media to drive traffic to their website, however, organic traffic is essentially dead. Which means that social media, while important, is not a very good way to drive traffic to your website.
4. Advertising:
This can help your business grow substantially, and the best part is that you don’t need a ton of money to get started! This is the most important element that many businesses miss!
If you are just getting started, the one thing that you should be doing is remarketing to people who have already visited your website. They have shown interest, and now you need to “seal the deal” by serving them an ad and converting them! Digital advertising is a great way to do this, without having to have lots of money.
By using digital advertising, you can drive traffic to your website and convert interested people into customers.
Those are the four areas of digital marketing that every business needs to have in order to set yourself up for success!
