This could also be titled “practice what you preach”. I talk a lot about how impactful Facebook + Instagram advertising can be to a business, but I haven’t shared with you how I’ve used it to grow mine.
One of the ways I’ve used Facebook + Instagram ads this year to grow my business is by using conversion ads to grow my email list.
My email list has grown over 2000% since January 1st
Two questions that probably come to mind:
- How did I do this?
- Why did I do this?
I’m going to start with the “WHY”. I focused on growing my email list because:
- Email is a great tactic to talk to your audience at very little cost. Heck, you can get started on Mailchimp for FREE!
- I own my email list. You don’t own your Facebook fans + Instagram followers.
- Even though 100% of my email list subscribers don’t open my emails, I can still reach them on Facebook + Instagram by making a custom audience.
Now on the the “HOW”:
- Created a free resource that was relevant to my target audience, which incentives someone to opt-in to my email list.
- Promoted the free resource on Facebook + Instagram to my target audience using conversion ads.
- Directed those who clicked on my Facebook + Instagram ads to a landing page that shared more information about the resource. I use Leadpages for my landing pages and highly recommend them!
- Once someone opted in, I sent them to a thank you page where I had a conversion (lead) Facebook pixel to let Facebook know someone converted.
- Lots of testing! There isn’t a magic formula, but there are best practices I followed that I used to test the type of free resource my target audience would like, how to reach my target audience using Facebook + Instagram options, and different landing pages.
