Today I wanted to talk with you about why small business should use digital advertising to promote their businesses over other types of advertising. It not only is going to save you money, but it is going to make your efforts more effective!
The first reason is that you get the biggest bang for your buck. When you look at the cost of digital advertising compared to things like print and radio, you get to do a lot more for a lot less. When we determine what type of media our clients should be using, we take a look at CPM. CPM is the cost per thousand impressions on your ad. This means that your ad was shown 1,000 times (however, it could have been shown multiple times to the same person.)
The second reason that you want to be using Digital Advertising for your small business is that you can maximize your reach and frequency. We always want to make sure that we are reaching enough people because only a percentage of those people are actually going to take action on your ad.
In addition to getting your ad out there, you need a high frequency. This means that people will see your offer again and again. You can accomplish both reach and frequency with digital advertising, even on a small budget.
However, if you have a radio ad, for example, you probably won’t be able to afford to be on multiple stations at multiple times. Print is also really expensive, and typically businesses are only doing it once (or once over a set amount of time.) This is not enough to effectively reach your target audience or have your ad shown at a high frequency.
The next great thing about digital advertising is that it really puts small businesses on the same playing field as the bigger businesses. If you are using FB ads in your business, then you are probably bidding for the same audience as the big guys are. And even with a small budget, you can still accomplish your goals and be shown to the same people as the bigger companies.
Digital advertising is also very effective and efficient. You are targeting people in your specific niche or specific target audience. TV and radio ads are bought by a very broad audience- which is great if you have a huge budget. However, if your budget is smaller, then you need to be reaching the exact people you want. Which you can easily do with digital advertising.
Finally, you can optimize and see how your ads are performing in real time with digital advertising. When you run a TV ad or radio ad, you can’t really track how well your ad is doing at least not in real time. With digital advertising, you can see the results almost immediately and you can make changes as needed. This means that you are going to pay less and get more. Win!
