The answer… it depends.
Now before you turn away frustrated by that answer, let me explain!
Growing your fans is a great way to build up an audience especially when initially launching or when trying to scale your business. It is an audience that has heard of you and what you have to offer. They’ve “raised their hand” to say they want to know more!
The problem with page fans is you don’t actually “own” them like you do your email list. Facebook can make changes whenever they want to their algorithm as we’ve seen many, many times over the last few years. Also, less than 10% of your fans actually see your posts without putting money behind them. So if you’re willing to pay for page fans then you should also have an additional budget to reach them after they’ve become fans.
Lastly, (yep this one is short, sweet and to the point!) the number of fans a page can sway the perception of a business or brand.
You can’t pay for followers on Instagram yet, but I won’t be surprised if that is rolled out soon — stay tuned 🙂
