Trying to build a business is f*cking tough. Yep. I said it.
Yes, there are times when your life looks like an Instagram feed, but there is also a lot of time spent on the couch with a glass (or bottle) of wine contemplating on whether all the work is worth it. I feel you, and I’ve been there too.
Next time you’re feeling defeated and contemplating on whether or not to throw in the towel, think about these four things:
Your Why
Why did you start down this path in the first place? Go deeper. I’m not just talking about, “I like marketing, so I started my own business”. I’m talking about your actual why. Do you want more control over your success, how much money you make, your work hours, time with your family, vacations, where you work, etc.
Do you still want it? Then keep going.
Lessons You’ve Learned
In every setback there is a lesson to be learned to make next time better. Even those who seem to have it all together are constantly thinking about how to improve. They didn’t get where they are without learning from setbacks.
Accomplishments
Think about all the little wins that have gotten you this far. You probably haven’t celebrated them all, but all of them are worth celebrating because you’re accomplishing things that most people haven’t and won’t in their lifetime.
Big Goal
Picture your life once you’ve accomplished your big goal. What big goal? You know, the goal you dream of if everything went as planned. The goal you probably haven’t told anyone or only a few people about because it is that big. That big goal is probably not as far away as you think it is, but you’ll never know if you quit now.
Remember You Don’t Have to Do It All Alone
There are lot so other people trying to figure it out too. Find them. Join them. Learn from each other.
